Recreation Assistant Extra Help
Assists the Recreation program staff; duties will vary according to job assignment. Assists in setting up and maintaining recreation facilities; checks that supplies, equipment and facilities are in order, and recommends any necessary repairs and supply needs to the supervisor. Answers public questions and telephone inquiries at centers and facilities; provides basic recreation program information to participants and the public. Maintains basic attendance and participant records as directed; may collect and account for fees. Assists in the enforcement of rules, regulations and safety precautions of municipal facilities. Recognizes, avoids, and reports unsafe acts, conditions, accidents and injuries. Assists in cleaning and maintaining general appearance of assigned facility. Assists with administrative duties; maintains inventory of supplies and materials.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Education and Experience: Must be at least 16 years of age. High school diploma, some college/university coursework preferred. A valid driver license with a good driving record or reliable transportation is required. Required Knowledge of: City policies, procedures, safety rules, and regulations. Working knowledge of indoor and outdoor recreational games, activities, etc. Required Skill in: Strong written and oral communication. Being pleasant, helpful, and informative in dealing with public. Required Abilities in: Working with children and adults. Supervising programs. Supervising recreation centers. Physical Demands / Work Environment: Must be able to work in all weather conditions. Must be able to lift 30 lbs.
