ASU Honors Students Garner Prestigious Summer Internships

Sophomore biology major Cassady Hossenlopp will conduct biomedical research at the Armed Forces Research Institute of Medical Sciences in Bangkok, Thailand. Sophomore physics major Blake McCracken will intern at the China Lake Military/Research Installation in China Lake, Calif. Senior international business major Erica Adkins will head to Argentina for an international business and Spanish internship through the Comision de Intercambio Educativo (COINED) in Buenos Aires. Junior art history major Jessica Kindrick will intern at the Mexic-Arte Museum in Austin.
These summer internships are being funded through the Alvin and Patricia New Honors Program Enhancement Fund. The ASU Center for International Studies’ Student Scholars Program is also contributing funding for Adkins’ and Hossenlopp’s trips abroad.
San Angelo Mayor Alvin New and his wife, Patricia, both ASU alumni, in 2008 donated $150,000 over five years to form the Honors Program Enhancement Fund that bears their names. They also contributed $100,000 over five years for Honors Program scholarships.
