Recreation Assistant (Extra Help)

Conducts interpreted natural history tours of Nature Center and Trails. Teaches natural history, life science, and ecology programs. Organizes and conducts birthday parties. Assists in program development. Assists in exhibit design and construction. Supervises and performs live animal care and husbandry. Supervises volunteers as required. Performs daily maintenance operations.
Two years of college with a strong background in Biology required. Good communication skills (written and oral) required. Must be pleasant, helpful, and informative in dealing with the general public. Must possess a strong ability to work with children of all ages. Ability to speak to large groups, setup workshops, and assist in supervising volunteers. Computer skills preferred. Must be willing to work with living specimens of all types, including snakes, spiders, scorpions, and other similar creatures. Must be in good working condition to conduct nature trail tours of minimum one mile duration. Ability to work in all weather conditions; lift 43 lbs floor to knuckle. A valid driver’s license with good driving record is required. Must have dependable transportation - occasional use of personal vehicle to drive to Nature Center.
Monday-Friday, 9:00 am - 1:00 pm; 20 hours per week to include weekends, evenings, and holiday hours.
