Angelo State ROTC Cadet Tops at Field Training
July 29, 2011
A junior security studies and cultural competency major, Morland was one of 23 cadets in his Field Training flight for the four-week course that must be completed by all U.S. cadets pursuing commission in the Air Force through ROTC. Course activities included daily physical training, weapons training and hand-to-hand combat training at Maxwell AFB, and a two-week simulated deployment at Camp Shelby. During the deployment, cadets engaged in combat scenarios using paintball guns, learned how to work in a convoy and were taught first-aid.
Also named a Distinguished Graduate of the course, Morland has been invited to return next summer as a cadet training assistant, along with fellow ASU cadet Jaymes Trimble.
Other ASU cadets who attended the Field Training course were Mario Allen, Kenneth Chalupa, Emily Chase, Mary Cooper, Brittany Dunnaway, Brian Kelly, Monique Lockwood, Jason Slover, Kirk Trevena and Allysen Vance.
