ASU Bass Anglers Duo Third at Regional

October 09, 2012

The Angelo State University Bass Anglers team of Ethan George and Josh Seale took third place at the National Guard FLW College Fishing Southern Conference Championship Saturday, Oct. 6, on Lake Dardanelle near Russellville, Ark.

George, a junior business management major from San Angelo, and Seale, a senior accounting major from Breckenridge, caught 14 bass during the three-day tournament with a total weight of 41 pounds, 13 ounces.  They brought home a $3,000 purse, which will be split between the Bass Anglers club and the ASU general scholarship fund, and qualified for the FLW National Championship next spring.

After landing 10 bass with a total weight of 28 pounds, 8 ounces during the first two days of the conference tournament, the ASU duo actually led going into the final day despite mechanical problems with their boat.  Coverage of the conference championship will be broadcast nationally on Sunday, Dec. 30, from noon-1 p.m. CST on the NBC Sports Network.

All participants in FLW tournaments must be registered, fulltime undergraduate students at four-year colleges or universities, and must be members of fishing clubs recognized by their institutions.  Formed in 1996, FLW is named for Forrest L. Wood, the founder of Ranger Boats.  It is considered the premier tournament fishing organization in the U.S., and organizes tournaments at the high school, college and professional levels.
