ASUFit Program to Host Annual Turkey Trot

Angelo State University’s ASUFit fitness and wellness program will host its fifth annual Turkey Trot fun run/walk beginning at 9 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 17, on the ASU campus.

The event is open free to ASU employees and students, San Angelo Independent School District employees, walkers and children younger than 12.  A $5 entry fee will be charged to the general public with proceeds benefiting the ASU Sports Medicine Club.  Participants can begin registering at 8 a.m. in the Houston Harte University Center (UC), 1910 Rosemont Drive.  Races will begin on the University Mall in front of the UC.  

A 5K run will begin at 9 a.m., a 1.5 mile fitness walk will start at 9:02 a.m. and a 1-mile children’s race will start at 9:45 a.m.  For the 5K run, T-shirts, water bottles, pumpkin pies and other prizes will go to the male and female overall winners, and to the top three male and female winners in several age groups ranging from 13 to 60-plus years old.  The top three male and female children’s group winners for ages 2-6 and 7-12 will also win prizes.  There will also be a Thanksgiving costume contest and a free raffle for various other prizes. 

The annual Turkey Trot is sponsored by ASUFit, the ASU Sports Medicine Club, the SAISD’s A+ employee wellness program, Shannon Health and Wellness, and the San Angelo Road Lizards running club.
