‘Broken Lizard’ Comedians Coming to ASU

November 26, 2012

Angelo State University’s Club Café coffeehouse entertainment series will bring two members of the “Broken Lizard” comedy troupe to perform at ASU on Friday, Nov. 30, in the Houston Harte University Center (UC), 1910 Rosemont Drive.

Comedians Steve Lemme and Kevin Heffernan will take the stage at 7:30 p.m. in the UC’s C.J. Davidson Conference Center.  The first 100 audience members to arrive will receive a free Club Café coffee mug and sunglasses, and coffee, cappuccino, hot chocolate, and lemonade will be served.  Admission will be $2 for ASU students, faculty and staff, and $10 for the general public either in advance or at the door.  Advance tickets are available from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. weekdays in the ASU Center for Student Involvement, Room 001 in the UC basement.

“Broken Lizard” formed at Colgate University as a student sketch comedy group.  After graduating, its members relocated to New York City to perform live shows.  Their feature film careers began with their award-winning debut “Puddle Cruiser” in 1996.

They then appeared in the cult comedy hit “Super Troopers,” which premiered in 2001 at the Sundance Film Festival and was released worldwide in 2002, earning $20 million at the box office and selling more than five million copies on DVD.  Their third movie, “Club Dread,” was released in 2004 and also became a cult favorite.

The group’s success continued with the 2005 movie remake of “The Dukes of Hazzard,” which was followed up by “Beerfest” in 2006.  More recent work includes “The Slammin’ Salmon” in 2008 and “Freeloaders,” which is now in post production.

“Broken Lizard” members are all on national standup comedy tours this fall.
