ASU Theatre Students to Preview Scenes

January 29, 2013

In preparation for upcoming events, Angelo State University’s drama program will conduct a Studio Theatre show on Friday, Feb. 1, in the Carr Education-Fine Arts (EFA) Building, 2602 Dena Drive.

“An Evening of Scenes and Stuff” will begin at 8 p.m. in Room 241A of the EFA Building and is open free to the public.  The program will showcase the work of students who have been invited to the design and acting competition at the Region VI Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival (KCACTF) in Shreveport, La., during the last week of February.  The Studio Theatre program is utilized for student-directed works, rehearsals and classes.

Not being performed during the Studio Theatre but also invited to the festival will be “Staccato Man,” written by ASU junior Jacob Scott and directed by ASU senior Leigha Murray.  “Staccato Man” has already been selected for a performance during the Irene Ryan Acting, Musical Theatre Initiative and Design Competition at the festival, one of seven plays chosen in the six-state Region VI.
