First Generation Community Mentor

Job Summary: The community mentor is responsible for building a positive living environment and should be a positive role model for the First Generation Living-Learning Community residents. This person will live on the floor and encourage participation in first generation programs. The Community Mentor works with program specialist to coordinate workshops, events and/or outreach activities.

Duties: Community mentors are required to attend residential assistant training, attend some of the residential assistant meetings as directed by program specialist, be an active first generation advocate, provide resource and  report to program specialist and residential halls. The Community Mentor will not address discipline issues; however, you will be responsible for reporting policy violations. The Community Mentor will not be on duty or rotation. *performs other duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• strong leadership skills

• Community involvement and volunteer work

• knowledge concerning university and community resources


• maintain cumulative 2.5 GPA or higher

• Be enrolled at ASU for at least 12 credit hours each semester of employment (for undergraduates). Graduate students should be enrolled at ASU for nine hours each semester of employment

• Completed a minimum of 24 semester credit hours by the date of employment

• Be free of disciplinary probation





 Living Deduction to $1500 per semester room rent
