ASU Music Prof to Present Recital

October 02, 2013

Dr. Kevin Lambert, a tenor and member of Angelo State University’s music faculty, will present a solo recital of art songs on Sunday, Oct. 6, at the San Angelo Museum of Fine Arts, 1 Love St.

The recital will begin at 2 p.m. and is open free to the public.

The program will include “Dichterleibe,” a major art song cycle by Robert Schumann, as well as works by Peter Warlock, Leonard Bernstein, Samuel Barber, Dom Thomas Symons, Charles Ives and Aaron Copland.  An art song is a vocal music composition, usually written for one voice with piano accompaniment and usually in the classical tradition.

Lambert will be accompanied by Dr. Michael Yenny, ASU staff accompanist, on piano.

Active as a choral clinician and tenor soloist, Lambert has conducted such major works as Brahms’ “Requiem,” Handel’s “Messiah and Mozart’s “Requiem.”  He was a regional finalist in the Upper Midwest Division of the Metropolitan Opera Auditions.  In 2004, he sang at the International Music Festival in Hirosaki, Japan.
