Center for International Studies-English Language Learners’ Institute (ELLI)

The ELLI graduate assistant works closely with in the ELLI program coordinator to plan and execute cultural events (on campus, in the community, and out of town)  for the English Language Learning students.  This individual also serves as a liaison between the international students and university offices.  Primary tasks include, but are not limited to: event planning and coordinating (especially the weekly “Global Connections” events,) supervision and evaluation of ELLI interns, and data entry. 

Current event examples include:

- Activities on and off campus to introduce our international students to Americans and American Culture.

- Supervision of International Education Week

- Supervision of orientation events and campus tours for new students in ELLI

- Facilitator of Meetings with interns

This position requires strong skills in leadership, interpersonal communication, and cultural competency.  It is imperative that this individual be flexible with frequent changes.  They must also possess a willingness to understand and work through communication barriers that are typical in dealing with international students.

*Bachelor’s degree with a minimum GPA of 3.0.

*Must currently be enrolled in an ASU graduate program.

*Must be able to maintain a professional demeanor in all situations and able to withhold confidential information

*A passion/love for international students


Up to 17.5 hours/week (schedule will vary)
