ASU Bass Anglers Place Second at Divisional Tournament

February 16, 2010

Two Angelo State University Bass Anglers broke a streak of near misses at fishing tournaments by bagging second place at the National Guard FLW College Fishing Texas Division event Saturday, Feb. 13, on Cross Lake near Shreveport, La.

Austin Adcock and Josh Seale turned in the second biggest catch of the day with a 7 lb., 14 oz. bass to bring home the $5,000 purse, which will be split between the Bass Anglers club and the general scholarship fund at ASU.

The second-place finish out of 40 teams also qualifies the pair for the three-day nationally televised regional championship in October on Sam Rayburn Reservoir, north of Beaumont.

The duo battled frigid conditions throughout the day to land the single bass. The winning team caught four fish weighing 15 lbs., 15 oz. The other teams in the top five also caught only single fish, and just seven teams brought back fish at all.

Adcock and Seale qualified for the regional championship last year, finishing sixth, and missed qualifying for the national tournament by one ounce.
