Harvesting the Past

January 14, 2014

The West Texas Collection participates in a collaborative effort to gather and preserve local history documents.

Do you have grandma’s old scrapbook under the bed or dad’s war letters in a shoe box?  You may not realize it but those items help tell the story of our collective past.  Here is your opportunity to have those family treasures digitized and added to a community heritage digital collection.  The San Angelo History Harvest is a project of Humanities Texas and Texas Archives of the Moving Image working with the West Texas Collection at ASU, the San Angelo Museum of Fine Arts, Fort Concho National Historic Landmark and the Stephens Central Library.  The event will be held January 18 from 10 am to 4 pm in the third floor Community Room of the Stephens Central Library on Irving and Beauregard.  All items will be scanned and returned to the owner along with a digital copy.  Do your part to preserve history by attending the History Harvest.  Questions can be addressed by the WTC at 942-2164.
