Summer Camp Counselor- Recreation
Under the direction of the Camp Coordinator, this position is responsible for planning, leading, implementing, and supervising programs and events for camp children. The position is responsible for creating a safe environment in which camp participants will have fun, learn, and grow in skill achievement.
Minimum 16 years of age with parental/guardian waiver. Experience in day camp or significant experience working with children. Current CPR and First Aide certification preferred, but training is available through the City. Applicant is subject to background check prior to hire. This position requires an individual who can be a role model to children; teaching them through physical education and recreation, to experience the values of respect and responsibility. Ability to organize and lead a variety of small and large group activities on a weekly basis. Activities may include crafts, nature, songs, games, and other assignments as required. Must be able to recognize inappropriate behavior and be able to correct inappropriate behavior with a positive reinforcement; ensure that the camp area is clean and organized, follow all rules regarding child safety and report concerns to camp coordinator. Applicant will be required to maintain accurate camp records, to include but not limited to, incident reports and daily attendance. Must be able to understand all emergency procedures, and able to follow all safety guidelines.
This is a temporary/seasonal position. Monday through Friday, 7:00am to 6:00pm; 30 hours per week.
