ASU Host Family Banquet

March 25, 2014

Angelo State University’s Center for International Studies will have a Host Family Banquet to both celebrate and recruit host families for international ASU students on Saturday, April 5, at PaulAnn Baptist Church, 2531 Smith Blvd.

The banquet will begin at 7 p.m. in the PaulAnn Chapel and is open free to anyone interested in becoming an ASU host family.  An authentic Korean meal prepared by members of the Hope Korean Baptist Church of San Angelo will be served, followed by presentations by Sara Ceschin, an ASU student from Italy, and her local host parent, Ken Whitley.  Ron Landers, ASU host family coordinator, will also give a presentation on “How to Make the Most of Our Time Spent with Our Students.”

As ASU’s international student population continues to grow, there is an increased need for local host families to welcome the international students and help them settle into their lives in West Texas.  Host families connect with their students via e-mail prior to their arrival, meet them at the airport, help them get settled on campus and then plan activities together at least once a month.  They are also encouraged to include their international students in holiday and family celebrations.  There is no cost to join ASU’s International Host Family Program.

Dress for the Host Family Banquet is casual.  Anyone planning to attend is asked to RSVP by Monday, March 31, by contacting Landers at 325-942-2083 or
