Bridgeport Carr Signing Day
April 02, 2014
To recognize Hall for her achievements, ASU will conduct a Carr Signing Day event at 11 a.m. Monday, April 14, at the Bridgeport Public Library.
Carr Scholarships are renewable for four years and range in value from $1,000 to $15,000 per year. Scholarship awards are based on high school grade point average and standardized test scores on the ACT or SAT college entrance exams. The Distinguished Carr Scholarship is limited to six incoming students per year and provides each one with $15,000 annually. To be selected for the top award, students must score at least 32 on the ACT or 1400 on the SAT, maintain a high school cumulative GPA of at least 3.5, and interview with ASU administrators.
Other Carr Distinguished Scholarship recipients are Isaac Hanemann of the Science Academy of South Texas in McAllen; Anna Porter of Stanton High School in Stanton; Gabriella Wright of Central High School in San Angelo; Stephen Medrano of Grape Creek High School in San Angelo; and Emily Hecox of Byron P. Steele High School in Schertz.
Carr Scholarships are funded by a $100 million endowment, one of the largest in the nation at a regional university. Robert G. Carr and his wife, Nona K. Carr, who bequeathed their interests in oil, gas and other minerals from producing properties in West Texas, made the Carr Foundation possible.
