Performances will be at 8 p.m. each night and are open free to the public. The Studio Theatre is located in Room 241A of the Carr Education-Fine Arts Building, 2602 Dena Drive.
A drama about Vietnam War veterans, “The Speed of Darkness” was written by Steve Tesich and premiered in 1989. The play features Lou, a homeless veteran who follows a traveling version of the Vietnam Memorial. One day, he reads an announcement that a former brother-in-arms, Joe, has been named Man of the Year in his South Dakota hometown. Lou decides to pay Joe a visit, and the result cracks the façade of Joe’s picture-perfect life.
The cast of “The Speed of Darkness” includes Mason Gable as Joe, Jordon Shocklee as Anne, Kathleen Jenkins as Mary, Sawyer Hirt as Eddie and Hans Curran as Lou. As with all Studio Theatre shows, it is being directed by an APO member, senior Jacob Scott.
Student crewmembers are David Pedersen, stage manager and sound operator; Jose Villedas, light board operator; Martin Rodriguez, set designer; Cassandra Trautman, costume designer; and Jaslyn Diaz, properties manager.
Scott is president of APO and Mike Burnett, assistant professor of theatre, is the faculty advisor.
