Under the leadership of President Dr. Brian J. May, Angelo State University seeks an accomplished and dynamic academic leader to serve as Provost/Vice President for Academic Affairs. The Provost/Vice President for Academic Affairs will play a key role in leading the faculty and community in concert with the University’s strategic plan (Vision 20/20), providing vision and direction for enhancing student success, academic programs, and curricular innovation.
Angelo State University is a dynamic institution of higher education long recognized for its strong academic programs, its technological sophistication and its nurturing environment, which helps all students—including many first-generation college attendees—attain their full potential.
As a comprehensive university and a member of the Texas Tech University System, Angelo State has built a national reputation, being selected by the prestigious Princeton Review as one of the “Best Colleges” nationally for five consecutive years since 2010. One of the nation’s most prominent college guides, Princeton Review is the only major one that surveys students for their opinions before publishing its college recommendations. ASU is one of only three state-supported institutions in Texas to make the list each year since 2010. Academically, the university is organized with six colleges—Arts and Sciences; Business; Education; Health and Human Services; Freshman College; and Graduate Studies—as well as 19 academic departments. Those departments offer 40 undergraduate degrees, 20 master’s degrees and one doctoral degree with more than 100 majors and concentrations. Additionally, ASU provides options for a variety of pre-professional and four-plus-one programs.
The Provost/Vice President for Academic Affairs reports to the President, is a member of the executive cabinet, and is responsible for enriching and expanding the academic programs while engaging with the faculty and stakeholders to foster an integrative learning environment. The Provost/Vice President for Academic Affairs leads the University’s six academic colleges, library, center for community engagement, center for international studies, center for security studies, undergraduate research, and the honors program.
