Community Flute Choir Plans May 16 Concert

April 23, 2010

The Concho Valley Community Flute Choir (CVCFC), directed by Dr. Constance Kelley, Angelo State University assistant director of bands, will appear in concert on May 16 at the Trinity Lutheran Church, 3536 YMCA Drive.

The 7 p.m. performance is open free to the public. Program selections will include pieces from Bach, something with a Celtic flair, a hoedown, a favored Simon and Garfunkel tune and an appearance by the “renowned Flaschen players.”

Flaschen is German for bottles, said Kelley. Several ASU music majors will join the Flute Choir playing bottles on a piece called “Jungle Dance für Flaschen und Flüten (for bottles and flutes).”

The CVCFC was formed in the fall of 2009 to promote the art of flute playing and the performance of flute music, said Kelley. Members include a former band director, homemakers and ASU students.
