The Friends of the Porter Henderson Library & West Texas Collection awarded two $400 scholarships for the Fall 2014 semester.

Each fall and spring semester, the Friends of the Porter Henderson Library and West Texas Collection award two deserving ASU students $400 scholarships.

Dr. Henry N. Ricci was a longtime supporter of Angelo State University. The scholarship bearing his name is given to a nursing student, selected by faculty in the Department of Nursing and Rehabilitation Sciences. Dr. Wrennah Gabbert (Program Director of the Department of Nursing) presented the Fall 2014 scholarship to Chelsee Freeman.

The second scholarship honors Mr. Joe Bill Lee, director of the Porter Henderson Library for almost 30 years, until his retirement in 1992. The scholarship bearing his name is awarded to a Library student worker who is nominated by Library staff and selected by the Friends of the Library’s Executive Board. Mr. Lee presented the Fall 2014 scholarship to Victoria Limon, a student assistant in the Reference Services unit.
