ASU Education Honor Society to Offer Memorial Scholarship

June 01, 2010

Angelo State University’s chapter of Kappa Delta Pi (KDP) international honor society in education will offer a scholarship in honor of a deceased former member during its initiation banquet next spring.

The Michael Cavitt Memorial Scholarship honors the former president of the chapter who also participated in the Pearl of the Concho Writing Project at ASU. After receiving his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from ASU, Cavitt taught in the San Angelo Independent School District. He was killed Christmas 2009 in a traffic accident while returning to San Angelo from his family’s home in Sweetwater.

Anyone wishing to make a contribution to the fund should send a check made out to KDP and send it to Dr. Marilyn Eisenwine, Department of Teacher Education, ASU Station #10893, San Angelo, TX. 76909-0893. For a donation of $10 or more, the KDP will send a slide show on CD of photos collected by ASU education professors of their students during the past six years.
