Overnight Student Assistant, Access Services
Provides building supervision and security during early morning hours when the Circulation Desk ceases to offer service, so that Library Learning Commons can remain open to ASU Students seeking a place to study from 2:00 to 7:30 am. Enforces Library policies; addresses problems and manages emergencies, as appropriate. Provides basic directional assistance to patrons, answers telephones, and communicates with all patrons in a professional, service-oriented manner. Troubleshoots problems and provides patrons with basic instruction in the use of computers, printers, scanners, and photocopiers. Provide basic assistance to patrons needing help in the navigation of Library webpages. Report on evenings activities. Collects and records information. Perform other duties as assigned.
Dependable and dedicated student who can work 12-18 hours per week. This position requires attention to detail, accuracy, people skills, public service commitment, and personal reliability. The nature of the work requires visual acuity, full range of motion including but not limited to standing, siting, bending, twisting, pushing, pulling book carts up to 300 pounds, lifting up to 30 pounds, and the ability to remain alert for the duration of the work shift.
Approximately 12 – 18 hours per week. Normal schedule would include two nights per week, and occasionally a third night. All shifts are Monday – Friday (no weekend shifts) with hours being 1:30 – 7:30 am with possible half shifts (1:30 - 4:30 am or 4:30 - 7:30 am).
$8.75 per hour
