ASU received a $34,000 gift from Stripes Convenience Stores in May through the Stripes College Scholarship Fund to provide scholarships for deserving ASU students, beginning in the 2014-15 academic year.

Thirty-four ASU students received $1,000 scholarships through the new program, which will be jointly managed at ASU by the Office of Development and Alumni Relations and the Office of Scholarship Programs. Stripes Convenience Stores is also underwriting the administrative costs of running the scholarship program.

“Angelo State is fortunate to have Stripes join other local companies within San Angelo to support our mission of higher education,” said Jamie Akin, executive director of development and alumni relations. “We are delighted at the initial level of generosity from Stripes and look forward to our students benefitting from their gift.”
