Hello, hello! My name is Amanda Hill, and this is my first semester as a graduate assistant at the Writing Center. I obtained a bachelor’s degree for English with a creative writing specialization in August, graduating late so that I could participate in the Ireland, Scotland, and London study abroad program. If I had a list entitled “Best Decisions I Ever Made,” the choice to go abroad would definitely be in the top three. While I loved studying English and creative writing, I decided to try something new and pursue my minor, communication, at the graduate level.
I am a diagnosed book addict with special interests in children’s literature and slam poetry. I also love the works of J.D. Salinger, Shel Silverstein, Kurt Vonnegut, and Neil Gaiman. I recommend picking up every piece of writing you can find from 18th century British literature to comic books. Also, anything found on a “banned books” list is worth a look.
I am equally obsessed with music, and I love to sing and play guitar in my free time. I also love to write, travel, attend very loud concerts, watch stand-up comedy (I can’t get enough of Todd Barry or John Mulaney at the moment), and see hilarious movies with my friends and family.
Don’t hesitate to visit the Writing Center if you have any concerns or questions about your writing! We’re here to help, and we can’t wait to meet fellow students and writers at ASU.
