Curriculum and Instruction-Teacher Certification Master’s Degree (M.A.)
The M.A. in curriculum and instruction - Texas Teacher Certificate program is designed for students who have a bachelor’s degree in another area, but want to get certified to teach.
All courses offered in the program are delivered through an online format for the convenience of the candidate.

Other work settings for graduates include educational service centers, state department of education offices and community college administration offices.
We offer eight-week courses that are 100 percent online, allowing students to complete the program in less than two years.
We stress personal contact and advising. All our faculty are available to meet with students as needed.
Students gain extensive field experience through internships and practicum opportunities.
Student organizations include Kappa Delta Pi (education honor society), ASU Student Reading Council and the Texas State Teachers Association.

- Curriculum: Evaluate and modify appropriate curricula and resources to meet student, client and program needs for content area.
- Instruction: Evaluate student abilities and modify instruction within the content area to meet the needs of a diverse student population.
- Practical Experience: Apply creative thinking and utilize new technologies to the solution of practical educational/training problems.

Note: The GRE is NOT required for admission.
Hold a bachelor’s degree with a GPA of 2.75 or better, including all grades on repeated courses, or hold a bachelor’s degree with a GPA of 2.75 or better in the last 60 hours of undergraduate work.
You are strongly encouraged to register for the first and second eight-week sessions simultaneously, before the first eight-week session begins.

* These courses will include evaluations to meet the requirements for the Comprehensive Program Review (CPR) and may not be substituted or transferred. The grade on the identified evaluations in these CPR courses and the course grade must be at least a B.
***A Comprehensive Program Review (CPR) is the comprehensive experience covering the work within the programs in the Curriculum & Instruction Department and is required of all candidates for master’s degrees. Formal submission of the work for the CPR will occur the semester you take the indicated course. An application for CPR completion must be submitted the semester you intend to graduate.

Prior to Clinical Teaching or Internship, you must complete 30 clock hours of observations in the field you are seeking certification.
