Course Creation

Blackboard courses will be created upon registration. You must be listed in Banner with the Registrar’s office as the instructor of record for the course to be able to view your course in Blackboard. If you do not see your course listed, please contact the Dual Credit Office.

Course Availability

Blackboard courses will be open and available for student view two business days prior to the start of the term. For example, if the course begins on a Monday, the courses will open the Thursday before.

All ASU dual credit courses must abide by the deadlines and dates according to Angelo State University’s Academic Calendar. Please make sure to schedule your syllabi accordingly; students should be informed of all deadlines and term dates.

  2. Navigate to the Control Panel, located near the bottom of the menu
  3. Expand Customization and select Properties
  4. Navigate to Set Availability, and select NO for Make Course Available
  5. Click Submit

What is Blackboard?

  3. Scroll to the end, and Expand the Control Panel
  4. Expand Course Tools
  5. Select “Send Email”

To send an announcement out to your students:

  1. Login to Blackboard with your username and password
  2. Navigate to your course
  3. Select “Announcements” from your course menu, or select from Course Tools
  4. Click “Create Announcement”

ASU Email

Because you are an instructor with Angelo State University, you were given an ASU email address. This address is your username for Ramport and Blackboard with “” at the end.

If students email you from your Blackboard course, this email will go to your ASU address. ASU will also send you notifications such as maintenance times for Blackboard, Ramport, and other important information.

You may provide a rule in your inbox to auto-forward all ASU emails to your institution email. To do this, follow these steps.

Also, visit the Information Technology website for email guides.
