An Act to Recognize November as Veteran Appreciation Month
The Angelo State Student Government Association recognize the month of November as Veteran Appreciation Month, and every Friday within the month of November be deemed “R.E.D” Fridays.
The United States of America recognizes November 11th as Veterans Day.
According to the National Conference of State Legislatures, veterans make up 4% of the national student body population, which amounts to over a million veterans since the formation of the GI Bill after 9/11.
Angelo State University has been known for its military friendliness by earning the “Best for Vets’ title since 2013. Currently, roughly 220 veterans are enrolled in classes at Angelo State University.
According to the Pew Research Center, as of 2016, 15% of active-duty service members are deployed.
“R.E.D” is an acronym standing for Remember Everyone Deployed.
The Senate recognizing the month of November as Veterans Appreciation month will further extend the appreciation the student body has for those who have served in our armed forces.
