A Resolution to Support House Bill 375 in the Texas legislative process

 

Proposal:

Angelo State University Student Government Association supports House Bill 375 in the Texas House of Representatives.

 

Whereas:

House Bill 375 states the following “Sec. 43.008.  CAMPUS POLLING PLACE.  The commissioners court of a county shall designate as a polling place a location on the main campus of an institution of higher education as defined by Section 61.003, Education Code, located within the county if at least 10,000 students are enrolled in the institution.”

 

Whereas:

Angelo State University currently has 10,000 students enrolled and should immediately take into consideration of having implicating a polling site on Angelo State University’s campus.


Whereas:

Section 61.003 of higher education states, that Angelo State University, by definition fits all aspects of having a polling site on campus.

 

Whereas:

The students of Angelo State University will deeply benefit from having a polling place on campus.

 

Whereas:

The polling site would not just affect Angelo State University, but it will also benefit the entire community around the campus.

 

Whereas:

Angelo State University Student Government Association will work on lobbying in support of House Bill 375 in the Texas legislative in March 4-5, 2019.

 

Be it Recommended: Angelo State University Student Government Association supports House Bill 375 in the Texas legislative process.
