Biography:

Ms. Heller is an Assistant Professor of Aerospace Studies at Angelo State University, San Angelo, TX. She instructs freshman and sophomore-level students in multiple AS100 and AS200 courses in the endeavor to attract, retain, and produce the highest quality leaders for America’s Air Force.

Ms. Heller entered the Air Force in 2013 as a distinguished graduate of the Air Force ROTC program upon graduating with honors from the University of Iowa with a Bachelor of Arts in Anthropology and a minor in Spanish Literature and Language. At her first assignment to Detachment 217, Davis-Monthan Air Force Base, AZ, she ran felony-level criminal investigations and was subsequently appointed as the chief of the counterintelligence program for Davis-Monthan AFB, as well as providing counterintelligence support to Air Force Southern Command as a partner with AFOSI 2 FIR OL-B. Ms. Heller worked with the local FBI field office on counterterrorism and counterintelligence investigations, and mitigated counterintelligence threats to Davis-Monthan AFB. Subsequently, she was trained at the Defense Language Institute and participated in an intensive language immersion in Amman, Jordan. Following her language course Ms. Heller served as an Arabic Language Specialist assigned to AFOSI 2d Field Investigations Region, Operating Location Alpha, Shaw AFB, SC. She provided precise language and cultural expertise in the planning and execution of all AFOSI strategic engagements within the entire Middle East and South West Asia regions. Additionally, Ms. Heller coordinated AFOSI support in Gulf Coast Council countries, the Levant, and Afghanistan, to include rapid deployment support, site surveys, and counterintelligence considerations. She separated from Active Duty service in August 2019 and planned to continue to serve the Air Force as an ROTC instructor and AFOSI Agent in the Air Force Reserve program.

Ms. Heller was raised in military communities around the United States as the daughter of a naturalized Cuban immigrant and a retired United States Marine. Her hobbies include Zumba, powerlifting, and performing music with community bands. She currently resides in San Angelo, TX with her lab mix, Dulce.
