What Can You Do With an Athletic Training Degree?

Start your career as soon as you graduate. The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reports that career opportunities for athletic trainers are expected to increase significantly through 2031, adding thousands of new job openings in educational and healthcare settings, as well as amateur and professional sports.

Hands-On Training

Our program features four 8-week immersive clinical courses that provide you with practical experience in first aid, emergency management, patient assessment, research methods, diagnosis and management of injuries, therapeutic modalities and rehabilitation. You’ll gain essential clinical skills while practicing in collegiate, clinical, high school and general medical settings.

Dynamic Facilities

Many of your classes will be in our new Health and Human Services Building that features state-of-the-art labs, advanced software applications and smart classrooms - and in our Ben Kelly Center for Human Performance with its exercise, training and therapy areas. They are also where you will conduct important faculty-mentored research projects that you can then present at ASU’s annual Graduate Research Showcase.

Joint Degree Plan Available

How long does it take to get a master’s degree in athletic training? If you already have a bachelor’s degree, our M.A.T. degree can be completed in two years by full-time students. We also offer a joint degree plan that allows you to earn a Bachelor of Science in Health Science Professions degree and your M.A.T. in as little as five years.
