Featured Speaker - Jeff Harris
Angelo State University alumnus Jeff Harris exemplified student involvement during his time as a student.
Before receiving his Bachelor of Interdisciplinary Studies in 2011, Harris was involved with several student groups, including the Student Government Association, which he served as president for two years.
During Harris’s second term as student body president, he advanced to become the first ASU student to serve as the student regent for the Texas Tech University System Board of Regents.
Harris also spent a year as a resident assistant at ASU. He also helped re-start the College Republicans campus organization and interned for two summers with Texas Congressman Mike Conaway.
Harris’s involvement extended into the San Angelo community. He worked to help these local organizations with various efforts and causes:
- Muscular Dystrophy Association
- American Cancer Society
- Meals for the Elderly
- Special Olympics
- Legend Oaks Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center
Harris’s development as a student leader has served him well in his professional career. Following graduation, Harris was hired by Warren Caterpillar Equipment Company in Oklahoma City and held various management positions there before transferring to Abilene and now San Angelo.
His wife, Kara, is beginning her last semester as an education major at ASU, and the couple are expecting their first child in February.
