Academic Instruction

Our commitment to your education has not changed. We are committed to your success, no matter the circumstances. We know that some coursework simply needs to be taught and experienced in person.

Summer II

  • All classes during the Summer II semester will be offered in an online format.
  • All the academic support you need is still available. Learn more about these services at Remote Rams.

August Commencement

  • Our summer commencement ceremonies will take place Saturday, Aug. 15 in a virtual format.
  • May and summer graduates are invited to participate.

Fall 2020

  • Our fall semester will begin one week early. The semester will begin Monday, Aug. 17, and go through Tuesday, Nov. 24.
  • Our classes will be taught in face-to-face, online and hybrid (a mix of face-to-face and online) models. Your professors will communicate with you what that means for each class, as well as what your schedule will be.
  • Interested in online classes? Your professional advisor can help.We’re committed to providing a great education both face to face and online.
  • Classroom capacity has been reduced to meet social distancing protocols.
  • Appropriate face coverings are required while on campus. This includes in the classrooms and lab settings. Please refer to the policy from the Texas Tech University System for requirements and exceptions.
  • All students are required to fill out a daily wellness screening. If you have any symptoms listed on the daily wellness screening, download and utilize the Shannon on Demand app (a free service due to our partnership with Shannon Medical Center). A healthcare provider will evaluate your health and determine if you need to be tested for COVID-19. If the healthcare provider refers you to be tested for COVID-19, you isolate until you meet the CDC guidelines for recovery. Your professors will work with you to make sure you have access to course work.

Fall Commencement

  • Fall commencement will take place in a virtual format on Saturday, Dec. 5.
  • Details regarding commencement will be announced during the fall semester.

Spring 2021

  • Our spring semester will begin Monday, Jan. 25. The semester will end as originally scheduled on Friday, May 14.
  • This schedule eliminates spring break in a continued effort to protect the university community from the potential spread of COVID-19.

The plans outlined are based on information available as of Sept. 17 and are subject to change. Decisions and guidelines will continue to be made based on guidance from local and state health officials and the Centers for Disease Control.
