Services
All clients are given a psychological symptoms assessment tool to aid in identifying a diagnosis and the level of treatment needed.
Counseling Services does not provide psychological testing, including ADHD testing, but can provide referrals to the community for students seeking these services.
Case management services are available for students who need assistance connecting to campus or community resources for such reasons as facing food or housing insecurity, academic assistance, or financial difficulties.
Counseling Services provides consultation to faculty, staff, students, and parents. Reasons for consultation may vary but may include: concern about an ASU community member or guidance on how to handle a specific situation.
Couples/Family counseling is offered to students with relational stress as long as one of the parties is a currently enrolled student with a paid medical services fee. If the member(s) of a couple/family is not the enrolled student and needs individual counseling, their counselor will refer them to the community.
The Creativity Center is being upgraded and currently closed due to renovations. The Creativity Center will relaunch with online booking in early Fall 2023. Stay tuned.

Group Counseling allows participants to learn skills and process stressors from a counselor and their peers usually around a specific issue or topic. We offer both closed groups to Counseling Services clients and open groups to any student in the ASU community.
Students with a paid medical services fee are eligible to receive up to six individual counseling appointments per fall and spring semester and three counseling appointments each summer semester.
A counseling appointment is defined as: an intake session, an individual therapy session, and a crisis appointment.
Clients utilizing all six of their counseling appointments in a semester are eligible for crisis services and may receive the allotted amount of sessions next semester.
Students work with their counselors to develop a treatment plan to meet their therapeutic goals and decide on the frequency of their six appointments.
Students in individual counseling may also utilize couples/family and group counseling as a supplemental resource, depending on availability.
If students request to be seen more than six times per semester, Counseling Services can help provide community referrals.
Counseling Services provides mental health awareness, education, and training to promote a safe and healthy campus community. We are happy to provide student groups, departments, classes, or organizations with mental health education. Please visit Outreach for more information on how to schedule an outreach or training.
