  • 2021 Spring Commencement Activities and Details Announced
    May 11 - The members of Angelo State University’s largest-ever graduating class of over 1,100 students are scheduled to walk the stage during five spring commencement ceremonies on Friday and Saturday, May 14-15, in the Junell Center/Stephens Arena, 2235 S. Jackson St.

  • Faculty Members Named Inaugural Provost’s Scholars
    March 30 - Angelo State University has introduced a new Provost’s Scholars Program that will allow qualifying faculty members “course release time” to take time off from teaching to conduct research and other scholarly activities.

  • Engineering Student Wins Prestigious Transportation Industry Scholarship
    March 3 - Linda Abernathy, a civil engineering student at Angelo State University, has been awarded this year’s $5,000 Molitoris Leadership Scholarship for Undergraduates from the Heart of Texas Chapter of the Women’s Transportation Seminar (WTS), an international organization dedicated to advancing women in transportation careers.

  • AEP Foundation Grant for New Engineering Student Hub
    October 2 - Angelo State University has received a $100,000 grant from the American Electric Power (AEP) Foundation to fund an endowment that will support the new Engineering Student Hub in the ASU Vincent Building. In recognition of that generosity, the facility has been renamed the AEP Foundation Engineering Student Hub.

  • Civil Engineering Program Earns ABET Accreditation
    September 2 - Angelo State University’s Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering (B.S.C.E.) degree program has earned accreditation by the ABET Engineering Accreditation Commission, retroactive to October 2018.

  • Battling the Coronavirus in 3-D
    June 11 - The COVID-19 (coronavirus) pandemic kept Angelo State engineering student Alan Backlund away from campus, but it didn’t keep him from being productive.

  • Engineering Student Picked for Dept. of Defense Internship/Scholarship Program
    April 27 - Logan Drake of Schertz, a junior mechanical engineering major at Angelo State University, has been selected for the U.S. Department of Defense’s 2020 Science, Mathematics, and Research for Transformation (SMART) Scholarship-for-Service Program.

  • Engineering Team Wins Awards, Qualifies for Nationals
    March 11 - A team of Angelo State University civil engineering students brought home several awards and qualified for a national contest after taking part in competitions at the American Society of Civil Engineers’ Texas-Mexico Student Symposium March 4-7 in Arlington.

  • First Class of ASU Engineering Students
    December 9 - ASU’s inaugural class of engineering and pre-engineering majors numbered over 50 for the fall 2015 semester.

  • Engineering Program’s First Semester a Rousing Success
    December 8 - Angelo State University’s fledgling Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering program is already off to a flying start in its first semester of existence.
