Around the Department

History explains how we got to where we are today. But studying history also has many more benefits. It prepares you for traditional careers like historian, archivist, museum worker and history teacher – but it also gives you a foundation of practical skills that are important in virtually every career field. Your ASU history degree can also lead to success in business, marketing, public relations and the military, as well as seminary and law school.

Historical Bonanza

ASU is a paradise for history buffs. Our award-winning West Texas Collection features extensive historical archives, and we have two new archive projects in the works that concentrate on World War II and the Vietnam War. The area around ASU is also full of historical sites, including native rock art and restored frontier forts.
