Latino Americans History Series

Latino Americans: 500 Years of History Series (2015-2016 Academic Year)

Sponsored by the National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) and the American Library Association (ALA), the Department of History at Angelo State University and the Porter Henderson Library present “Latino Americans: 500 Years of History.” This program includes two screenings of the PBS documentary, “Latino Americans” along with several lectures/events about the experience of Latino Americans throughout their long history in the Americas.

The series is also supported by the Tom Green County Library System, the San Angelo Museum of Fine Arts, the Office of the Dean of the College of Arts and Humanities at Angelo State University, and Fort Concho National Historic Landmark.

Latino Americans: 500 Years of History, a public programming initiative produced by the National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) and the American Library Association (ALA), is part of an NEH initiative, The Common Good: The Humanities in the Public Square.

War Stories

The Department of History has been awarded a three-year grant from the National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) to preserve the experiences of West Texas military veterans and their families from World War I to the present.
