Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Mathematics
This degree program features less concentration on the sciences and more in the humanities, including modern language study.
B.A. in Mathematics with Secondary Teacher Certification
This degree offers the same B.A. curriculum and the opportunity to test for certification to teach mathematics at the middle school and/or high school level.
Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Mathematics
This degree program features more concentration on the sciences and less on the humanities, including no modern language requirement.
B.S. in Mathematics with Secondary Teacher Certification
This degree offers the same B.S. curriculum and the opportunity to test for certification to teach mathematics at the middle school and/or high school level.
B.I.S. in Mathematics with Teacher Certification
This degree program leads to a Bachelor of Interdisciplinary Studies degree and offers the opportunity to test for certification to teach mathematics at the middle school and/or high school level.
For high school mathematics teachers who want to teach high school dual-credit courses or advance to teach at the two-year or community college level, the Department of Curriculum and Instruction offers a Master of Arts in Curriculum and Instruction - Professional Education degree. The Mathematics concentration for this program requires students to take 18 hours of Mathematics Graduate Courses.
Mathematics is a fascinating field of study that touches many aspects of our lives. Your ASU degree is your path to becoming an independent thinker with skills that are valuable across many fields, especially the sciences. It will also help you quickly get up to speed in other industries, including economics, finance, computer applications, and even medicine.

Gain valuable hands-on experience by acting as a grader or class assistant, or as a tutor in our Math Lab. You can also work on research projects or independent study with your professors.
For over 20 years, our students have maintained a 100% pass rate on the Texas Examination of Educator Standards (TExES) teacher certification test for secondary mathematics.
You can join our chapters of the Mathematical Association of America and Pi Mu Epsilon national mathematics honor society for networking, professional development and social events as you really get to know your fellow students and professors.
