Courses in the minor provide you with an understanding of people who may require social services.
Our courses complement today’s outcome-based social service environment. You will study:
- Biopsychosocial theories of human behavior
- Assessment and evaluation methods
- Micro- and macro-level intervention techniques
This minor is highly applied and structured and provides exposure to the social work profession.
Required Courses
The social work minor consists of 18 credit hours, including these required courses in social work (SWK):
- 2307 Introduction to Social Work
- 2316 Theory and Practice
- 3307 Human Behavior in the Social Environment I
You will also choose nine credit hours from any social work (SWK) advanced electives courses.
Of those 18 credit hours, at least six hours from the upper-level course options listed above are required in residence. A minimum grade of “C” is required in all social work courses counted toward the minor. A split or dual minor is not available in social work.
