Economics is the study of the allocation of scarce means to satisfy competing ends. As an economics major at Angelo State University, you will learn to apply the economic way of thinking to micro and macroeconomic phenomena. This will prepare you for a career in business, government and nonprofit organizations.
As you study the field, you’ll see that economics is an ever-changing subject. You’ll study traditional topics, such as the behavior of firms and monetary policy, as well as non-traditional topics like religion and crime.
The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reports a positive job outlook for economists, with employment expected to grow by 6% over the next 10 years. The demand will be driven primarily by the increasing complexity of the global economy, additional financial regulations and a more competitive business environment.
