ASU Low Brass Festival

Join ASU faculty and guests for an exciting day of performing, learning, and professional performances at Angelo State University. All events are completely FREE and open to the public. Bring your instrument, participate, and broaden your knowledge of the trombone, bass trombone, euphonium, and tuba.

What:

The ASU Low Brass Festival is a full day of rehearsals, classes, and performances geared toward current music majors, serious middle and high-school students, as well as anyone who shares an interest in low brass instruments.

Who:

The ASU Low Brass studio is led by Dr. Matthew Shipes, Assistant Professor of Low Brass. For this event, he will be joined by the Director of Bands, Dr. Jonathan Alvis, as well as Dr. Steven Keniston and Dr. Michael Yenny.

We are excited to welcome several nationally renown guest artists to the ASU campus.

When/Where:

The event will take place Saturday April 28 in the Carr Education-Fine Arts Building

8:00 - 8:45 - Check-in (Main Lobby)

8:45 - 9:00 - Welcome Meeting (Room 134)

9:00 - 9:50 - Warm-up Class with faculty and guest artists (Room 134)

10:00 - 10:50 - Masterclasses with faculty and artists (various rooms)

11:00 - 11:50 - Brent Phillips Masterclass (Room 101)

12:00 - 1:30 - Lunch on your own

1:30 - 2:50 - FivE concert (University Auditorium in the Mayer Administration Building)

3:00 - 3:50 - Mass Low Brass Ensemble Rehearsal (Room 134) Everyone may play!

4:00 - 4:50 - Faculty and Chamber Recital, Mass Ensemble Performance (Eldon Black Recital Hall)

5:00 - 6:00 - Brent Phillips Featured Recital (Eldon Black Recital Hall)
