ASU Symphony Orchestra
The Angelo State Symphony provides an exceptional orchestral experience to ASU students. The symphony plays a variety of orchestral music, ranging from standard masterworks to modern literature. The symphony performs a minimum of 4 concerts per year, as well as educational programs and university outreach concerts. The ensemble also performs at the Annual ASU Tree lighting ceremony. Through its concerts, the ASU Symphony fosters an appreciation for music and enrichment of the academic and local communities.
Rehearsals occur on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 2 - 3:50 p.m. in the Carr Education-Fine Arts Building, Room 134.
Fall 2019 Auditions
Strings – Tuesday, August 27 from 2-3:50 p.m. in Carr 134
String Materials – Excerpts from Gnattali, Khatchaturian, and Faure
- Violins may audition on Violin 1 or 2 part
- Audition cuts will be released 24 hours before the audition

The symphony hosts an Annual Concerto Competition in the Spring semester, open to all music majors. The winners are featured as soloists with the ASU Symphony. The next Concerto Competition will be held on February 19, 2020 at 4 p.m. in the Eldon Black Recital Hall.
Instrument Check Out
A limited number of instruments is available for check out for those who don’t currently own one.
Limited scholarships are available by audition.
