Message from the Dean

Welcome to the ASU College of Business! We offer a variety of undergraduate and master’s level business degree programs designed to prepare you to be a successful business professional. All of our business degree programs are accredited by ACBSP, a leading specialized accreditation association for business education that supports, celebrates, and rewards teaching excellence.

In addition, the College is a member of AACSB International, the premier accreditation body for collegiate schools of business worldwide. We have started the process for attaining accreditation of our business programs by AACSB, and hope to complete that process over the next few years.

A business degree from ASU compares very favorably with those granted by much larger universities, with a much more personalized learning experience. Our business faculty get to know their students by name, and the learning experience goes far beyond the classroom. We have several active student organizations, including chapters of Delta Sigma Pi, the American Marketing Association, and the Society for Human Resource Management. Some of our students participate in internships with local organizations, which often lead to full-time employment upon graduation. Many of our graduates have gone on to very successful careers in business across West Texas, as well as in major metropolitan areas including the Dallas-Ft. Worth Metroplex, the Austin/San Antonio area, and Houston.

Apart from our high-quality business degree programs, we are proud to have an award-winning detachment of the Air Force ROTC program within the Department of Aerospace Studies. ASU students from any major can participate in the AFROTC program, learning valuable leadership skills and possibly graduating as a commissioned officer in the US Air Force.

We are also fortunate to have the ASU Small Business Development Center within the College of Business. The SBDC’s mission is to foster small business success in a ten county region surrounding San Angelo, and to promote the economic development of the Concho Valley.

On behalf of the faculty and staff of the College of Business, let me close by saying that we want each of you to succeed, and we are here to help you in any way that we can.

Wishing you much success,

Clifton T. Jones, Ph.D.
Dean, Norris-Vincent College of Business
