Why did you choose the ASU Chemistry and Biochemistry Department?
After visiting the department and ASU while I was in high school, I felt that the Chemistry and Biochemistry Department would be a good fit for me because I not only enjoyed chemistry in high school, I also felt that biochemistry would sufficiently prepare me for my future aspirations in the medical field.

Major: Chemistry with a minor in biology
Hometown: San Angelo, TX

Why did you choose the ASU Chemistry and Biochemistry Department?
I actually came in as a Biology Major with a Chemistry minor.  Once I had Organic Chemistry, my passion for chemistry kicked into overdrive.  My professor spoke to me about the research opportunities in the chemistry department and I was hooked!  My sophomore year, I changed my major to Chemistry with a minor in Biology and I have not looked back.

What do you like best about the program?
I enjoy the professional relationships the chemistry faculty builds with all students.  They genuinely care for student’s success, and they do what they can to help us students succeed. Also, there are numerous research opportunities throughout the Chemistry department and this allows us to get a immense amount of research experience for the future.

What are your career aspirations?
My career aspirations are to pursue a PhD in Biochemistry and partake in pharmaceutical research at MD Anderson or any other Cancer research facility developing pharmaceuticals to combat cancer, or i would like to become a Biochemistry professor.
