Chair’s Welcome Letter

William A. Kitch, PhD, PE
Welcome to the David L. Hirschfeld Department of Engineering at Angelo State University. We offer one of the newest civil engineering programs in Texas. Our diverse and highly motivated faculty deliver a rigorous and practice-oriented program that prepares graduates for immediate employment in engineering and related disciplines. Our graduates are also well prepared for graduate education at top graduate programs in Texas and beyond. The newly completed Hunter Strain Engineering Lab provides state of the art facilities where our student receive a hands-on approach to engineering education.

We currently offer a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering and will add a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering in the 2018 – 2019 academic year. Our small class sizes, proactive advising program, and student led mentoring and tutoring program provide a personal connection for each student. This personal connection among faculty and students is a key to our goal of becoming the premier undergraduate engineering program in Texas.

Our department has strong ties to professional engineering organizations throughout the West Texas region. The connections we’ve built provide our students with internship opportunities, site visits to engineering projects, and one-on-one meetings with practicing engineers. Come join the Ramgineer family at Angelo State University to get your engineering career started.
