Student Organizations for Veterans
Student Veterans Organization
Angelo State University hosts a chapter of the Students Veterans of America (SVA), called the ASU Student Veterans Organization (SVO). Membership is open to students who are veterans with an honorable discharge, including National Guard and Reserves.
SVA’s and ASU SVO’s sole mission is to provide military veterans with the resources, support, and advocacy needed to succeed in higher education and after graduation. The nation’s renewed focus on veteran welfare has ignited change on campuses and in congress. SVA and ASU SVO are committed to capitalizing on this momentum to ensure today’s and tomorrow’s veterans are supported on their transition to education and employment.

Angelo State University has been granted a chapter of the SALUTE National Honor Society for Veterans. SALUTE is the first honor society established for student veterans and military in 2-year and 4-year institutions of higher education. One unique element of our honor society includes the 4 tier system which is designed to encourage student veterans to strive to improve their GPAs and advance to higher tier levels in the honor society during their academic careers.
SALUTE is being set up so that operating costs are low and the majority of membership fees will be going into scholarships for veterans across the nation who are students at institutions with charter memberships. These nationally awarded scholarships will be designed to support student veterans who need supplementation of their GI Bill funding or who do not have GI Bill funding.
