Dual Credit Proctors
As a Dual Credit Proctor, you play a crucial role in your student’s success.
It is important for a high school representative to have access to the Blackboard class to monitor student progress and understand expectations of students. This may aid in student success and helping resolve a problem, should one arise.
Submit completed Proctor Information and Banner Access forms to receive access to observe student progress and grades in Blackboard. Please check with your high school counselor if they are completing this step instead.
New students will receive an email to activate RamPort, ASU’s student portal, in August/January once registered for dual credit. This will be sent to the address entered on the dual credit application. Students may also go to aic.angelo.edu to activate their technology accounts.
Any students unable to log in should contact the ASU Technology Help Desk at 325-942-2911.
Once logged into RamPort, students can access courses by clicking the Blackboard link under Student Quick Links.
Encourage students to download the Blackboard app on their mobile devices. Notifications will be pushed to their mobile devices.
Students can access their ASU email in RamPort by clicking the Gmail link under Student Quick Links. This is where instructors will send emails to students, so they need to make sure they have access and are checking it often.
Communication is key in your role, as you can serve as the liaison for students when needed. Encourage students to communicate with their instructors, and assist when necessary. ASU instructors may email you to assist in facilitating their courses, so please check your email.
Review the syllabus. The course syllabus can be found in Blackboard, and instructors may email this to proctors at the start of a semester.
If you believe technology limitations may occur, communicate these with the instructors early in the semester.
Actively monitor students, especially during exams. A school representative is required to monitor students daily in a classroom.
If a course requires paper exams to be proctored, please return these as soon as possible to the instructor.
Instructors will do their best to keep grades updated. If you will be needing grades for a student progress report, please notify the instructor one week in advance to ensure grades are up to date. You are encouraged to communicate your school’s grading periods at the start of the semester.
Reminders and emails from instructors will be sent to students’ ASU email addresses. Encourage students to check their email daily, along with accessing the course in Blackboard.
Students should review the syllabus, read announcements and check assignment due dates regularly.
Have students watch the Dual Credit Orientation video by the first day of class. The video can be found in Blackboard or on the student resources page.
Have students watch Blackboard tutorial videos to become familiar with the system if it is their first time using Blackboard.
Encourage students to use the free ASU academic support services available to them.
