Lab Safety Requirements
- All instructors teaching a dual credit class containing a lab in the list provided below must provide proof of lab safety training every semester.
- Instructors may develop their own training or utilize the PowerPoint templates provided below.
- If instructors use their own training, they must ensure the training meets the training objectives below.
- Instructors must submit proof of completion of lab safety training BEFORE a lab course is held. Instructors will use an online form to submit the proof and must also upload a roster of their students. This must be submitted no later than the 12th class day.
- Instructors can notify the Information Technology Service Center if they would like to add this as an assignment in Blackboard.

Biological Safety Training
Students who successfully complete this training will be able to:
- Identify biohazardous materials
- Apply risk assessment strategies in a laboratory setting
- Identify routes of exposure to biohazards
- Properly prepare for work in the lab
- Properly handle and dispose of biohazardous waste
Lab Safety Training
Students who successfully complete this training will be able to:
- Properly handle, store and dispose of chemical substances
- Apply risk assessment strategies in a laboratory setting
- Identify the chemical exposure routes
- Properly prepare for work in the lab
- Determine appropriate emergency responses and decontamination procedures
