Technology Requirements for Distance Education

Required Hardware

You need access to a computer with minimum requirements. Please review these requirements below:

Students are required to have regular, reliable access to a computer with a stable broadband Internet connection. Any system older than 4 years may not have the processing power to work with our current version of Blackboard and its components.

All ASU networked computers are configured to use Blackboard and will have most software needed to complete online coursework. If additional software is needed on a ASU lab computer, please contact the administrator of the lab for assistance.

Additional Hardware

Depending on your course, you may also need access to the following:

• Speakers/Headphones
• Microphone
• Webcam

Required Software

Your course content may include Word, Excel, PowerPoint, or PDF documents. To be able to view these items, you will need to download the following:

• Microsoft Office 365
• Adobe Acrobat Reader

Additional Software

Depending on your course, you may need to install the following:

• Respondus LockDown Browser
• YuJa
