Cheer Prep Clinics

Clinics for high school freshmen through current Angelo State students. This clinic is designed to get you recruited for the ASU Cheer team or gain new skills.

2024 Dates

• Jan. 13, 2024 – (Registration opens Dec. 11, 2023)
• Cancelled - Feb. 11, 2024 – (Registration opens Jan. 16, 2024)
• March 16, 2024 – (Registration opens Feb. 13, 2024)

Time

• Check-in: 12:30 p.m.

• Clinic: 1 - 4 p.m.

Drop off and pick up location will be in the circle drive off of Johnson St. Parking is available at the back of the CHP.

Registration and Release Form

All participants must fill out a registration form. If you are under the age of 18, a Prep Clinic Release Form signed by a parent/guardian is required for in-person clinics. Participants over the age of 18 are required to complete a release waiver for in-person clinics.

Walk-up registration will not be accepted on the day of the clinic. Registration will close 24 hours before the event starts. Please let us know if your participant has any physical limitations at registration.

Who can attend recruitment clinics?

• All-high school students (grades 9-12)

• Current college students.

Attire

All participants need to wear fitting athletic attire. Cheerleading shoes are required for all participants.

Please wear the appropriate shirt color based on your current grade level below.

• 9th & 10th – Gray

• 11th – Yellow

• 12th – Blue

• Current College Students – Black

Women – A T-shirt or fitted top (For Flyers) and Hot Shorts (Nike Pros/Compression Shorts) are required.

Men – T-shirts, shorts, and compression shorts are required.

WHAT TO EXPECT

At this clinic, we will work on college-level group stunts, baskets, pyramids, tumbling, and gameday expectations and learn the ASU Fight Song. This is a great opportunity for participants to work on their skills to prepare for college tryouts or progress individual skills for their high school team.

Spirit Days are for Pre-K through 12th-grade participants.

All participants must fill out a Spirit Day Registration Form as well as a Spirit Day Release Form signed by a parent/guardian.

Groups / organizations are asked to complete the Group Spirit Day Registration Form when registering groups of 5+ students.

Cost

• $60 for single participants
• $50 per participant for group rate for 5-12 participants
• $45 per participant for group rate for 13+ participants

For attending this event, your child will receive an event T-shirt, tickets to the ASU Rams Basketball Game, & will participate in a halftime performance during the basketball game. Parents and family members wanting to watch the performance at the Rams & Ram Belles basketball game will be able to purchase a discounted ticket at the ticket office a day before Spirit Day.

• Team participants will join the Belles Basketball Game

• At Spirit Day, there will be a photo opportunity with current ASU Cheerleaders and mascots. We will have your future ASU Rams cheerleader learn some game day chants they can use during any ASU sporting event. We will introduce them to tumbling, jumps, and stunting. We will also have some fun stations for them to participate in.

• By attending this event, your child will receive an event Tshirt, tickets to the ASU Rams and Ram Belles Basketball Game, and perform during halftime of the Rams and Ram Belles basketball game. The Ram Belles game starts at 1 p.m., and the Rams game starts at 3 p.m. There will be a designated section for participants and families to sit in.

Youth cheer clinics are for kindergarten through eighth-grade participants.

The ASU Cheer Team will be offering one-on-one sessions for middle school and high school students who are seeking to reinforce their skills ahead of their school cheer tryouts. The sessions will be open to students ranging from 6th grade to 12th grade. Sessions for participants will last 45 minutes.

Registration will open on Dec. 13, 2023 and close on Jan. 15, 2024.

Payment is due by Jan. 16, 2024, to reserve your spot. If payment has not been received, it will be given to someone on the waitlist.

Time

• Clinic: 10 a.m. - 4 p.m.

Check-in will be 15 minutes before your scheduled lesson time. Session time will be emailed to participants 7 days before the event.

Each time slot will be 45 minutes long.

What To Expect

• At this clinic, we will work on skills that will be helpful for cheer tryouts such as jumps, spiriting, motions, crowd-leading skills, and cheers, chants, or band dances that are required for your school tryouts, and tumbling if the participant has those skills prior to tryouts.
• This is a great opportunity for participants to work on their skills to prepare for tryouts. This will be a one-on-one session with an ASU cheer team member.

Cost

$50 per participant

Walk-up registration will not be accepted on the day of the clinic. Registration will close on Jan 10th, 2024.
