Avoiding Citations
We have compiled some tips for anyone parking on the Angelo State campus. Following these simple guidelines will help ensure that you don’t get a ticket.
Locations
Only park in the zones or spaces indicated on your permit. If you are visiting campus, please park in the indicated visitor spaces or get a Visitor Permit from Parking Services.
Signs
Parking zones are indicated with signs. Because there may be more than one type of parking space in a lot, it is necessary to note the signs in the area. In each lot, different signs may restrict parking throughout the day, including service vehicles, handicap spaces, etc.
Time
Parking anywhere on the ASU campus requires a valid permit. Please note the signs in the parking areas that indicate which type of permit is required. Parking in any of the A, B, C or D areas is reserved on weekdays from 7:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
No Parking
Because service employees are on call 24 hours a day to assist campus students, personnel and buildings, service vehicle parking is reserved at all times. Fire lanes are also “no parking” zones for all others.
Common Citations Issued
- Parking with No Permit/Failure to Display a Permit ($35) – Issued when parking in a location without any valid permit, or if permit is not displayed.
- Parking in Wrong Zone ($30) – Issued when parking in an area without the proper permit for that lot.
- Handicap Violation ($200) – Issued when parking in a handicap spot.
- No Parking Zone ($35) – Issued when parking in a no parking zone, which could be indicated on the curb or at any location not surrounded on three sides by a line or curb. An absence of signs does not indicate parking is permitted. Parking on campus is different than in many cities.
- Backing in or Pulling Through a Parking Space ($15) – ASU does not allow backing into a parking space because we have had vehicles damaged in the past by drivers backing in. This is to protect your property from damage.
- Improperly Displayed/Obscured Permit ($20) – Issued when a permit is not clearly visible in the proper location.
And, Don’t Forget …
Failure to comply with the university’s established Traffic and Parking Regulations could result in a citation and/or impounding of your vehicle.
